Helpful Online Resources for the Christian
Todd Friel
Over the next few weeks I wanted to introduce you to some online resources that will help, encourage and challenge your walk as a Christian.
The first resource/person I wanted to introduce you to is Wretched Radio and Todd Friel. Todd’s broadcasts are both unique and enjoyable to watch. I must say, honestly, that Todd can be both annoying (maybe quirky is a better word) and brilliant (at the same time). Quirky and Brilliant? Yes!
I love to watch detective shows. Two of my favourites were Colombo and Monk. If you remember these shows, the main character was portrayed as being quirky and yet brilliant. Now you get my image of Todd Friel.
In Google Book’s blurb on Todd we read: “Todd Friel studied to be a pastor for four years but neglected to actually get saved. He abandoned church ministry plans and did secular TV, radio and stand-up comedy for 6 years. Gratefully, God saved Todd (from hell and stand-up comedy). Since then, Todd has combined his pastoral training and media skills to host Wretched Radio and TV. Todd has one wife, three children and a dog.”
Wretched is a non-profit organization that uses television, radio, and various other forms of media to create culturally-compelling and theologically-sound content with three goals in mind:
• Preach the Gospel.
• Equip the saints to preach & defend the Gospel.
• Strengthen the local church.
Todd addresses issues facing the church in a bold, no-nonsense and comical way. Todd is a writer, whose works are accessible to everyone. His book on Discernment is excellent (Judge Not). “In Judge Not, Todd Friel dares to violate Evangelicalism’s First Commandment: "Thou shalt not judge." Friel satirically and painfully exposes some of the rot in the underbelly of the contemporary church, and points to a solution to help rescue the church, save souls, and glorify God.”
He also has a series of audio broadcasts (on CD or for download) which are titled “Drive By” and are perfect for the morning commute or to listen to while mowing the lawn. They are 35 short messages that deal with theology, marriage, parenting, and the like. About “Drive By Theology” it is stated that: “Pursuing correct knowledge of God is the greatest endeavor of which any human can partake; Drive By Theology will help you do that.”
Take a look at the website: https://www.wretched.org/ and check it out for yourself. There you can shop, search their online library, watch episodes of both Wretched TV and listen to episodes of Wretched Radio. Is there a topic that interests you? You can search the site and find the episode that has addressed it. Check out Wretched … You’ll be glad you did.
See You Sunday
